An Easy Step By Step Guide To Growing Your Tobacco Plants...
What You Need... To start with, you will need the following bits:
| Filling Seedling Tray... You need to fill the tray with compost. We use a standard compost - 'Verve Compost'. You can get this from most B&Q type places. Make sure to pack in the compost firmly. | Spray Seedling Tray... Once you have filled the seed trays firmly, give the tray a good spray with water, so as to make sure the seeds have a nice moist environment to live in. |
Prep Seedling Tray...
Now you have the tray ready for the seedlings, you need to
make holes in the compost. You can use a mini dabber, which gives the
perfect size holes for the new tobacco seedlings.

Sowing The Tobacco Seeds...
Filling Seed Pots... Using the seed compost - We Use John Innis seed compost, again, you can get this from B&Q type shops. As with the seedling tray, make sure to pack the compost in firmly. | Filling Seed Pots... After filling the seed pots, rub off the excess, making sure to have a flat surface, so that the seeds can be sown uniformly. This will help later when you Prick Out. |
Sowing...
Filling Seed Trays... After giving the pot a quick spray, wet your fingertip and dab into your seeds, you should aim for about 50 seeds. | Prepping Seed Trays... Once you have the amount you desire, sprinkle in a circle so that you cover the top of the pots surface. Give another spray when you are done. |
Seedlings Ready... After a couple of weeks, you should have about an inch of seedling. Using a cocktail stick, separate each tobacco seedling gently. | Pricking Out... Being careful, gently pinch each separated seedling and guide them into the prepared hole in the seedling tray. Gently fill the hole around the seedling. | All Done... Press around each seedling firmly, and then give another spray, and you will one step nearer to your bounty! |
